The lab is now 6 years old, as of November 1st!

We recently said goodbye to Dr I’ah Donovan-Banfield, who moves to a Programme Manager role for the Black Researcher Consortium, where we are sure she will do great, continuing the community engagement and communication work that have been a key driver for her in her time with and before us. I’ah made a big contribution to our coronavirus work over the last year, and those papers are moving steadily towards completion, as well as the films for Antiviral Roller Skating from the British Science Festival, watch this space!

We also saw our three MRes students complete – Shu, Charlotte and Markella, and are lucky to have Markella continue with us for her BBSRC CASE studentship on single-cell proteomics with Cellenion as CASE partner, which she started in October.

We are also joined by Henry Steele-Childe who starts an MRC DiMeN DTP PhD with us on norovirus replication and joins us from Morgan Herod’s lab at Leeds, as well as Trinity Bakshi, who has started a Pirbright Institute-Liverpool PhD studentship on Infectious Bronchitis virus (based at Pirbright at present).
