The lab has gained a prestigious Career Development Award from the Wellcome Trust titled ‘Coronaviruses: linking polyprotein processing and replication complex function’. This 8-year, £2.5 million pound award will support the labs research into coronavirus replication, which focuses on improving our understanding of coronavirus polyprotein precursors. It will use new approaches the lab has developed for studying proteolytic cleavage by mass spectrometry, along with viral reverse genetics and long-read sequencing approaches. As part of this award the lab will be hiring several new PDRAs, with adverts coming soon.
